James is the founder of Tennyson Knapp Consulting, a high-impact advisory firm built to help manufacturing and technical companies grow profits, boost enterprise value, and prepare for successful exits—with speed, clarity, and confidence.
He blends technical know-how with leadership development experience in a way few others can. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Business Administration, a Master in Economics, and a Masters Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics. He’s worked hands-on in some of the most demanding and technical industries—including aerospace, defense, automotive, agriculture, plastics, food, chemical, pharmaceutical processing, metal fabrication, and contract manufacturing.
James has led major initiatives for Fortune 500 firms and small manufacturers alike. His work has supported critical projects like
the F-35’s Electro-Optical Targeting System for Lockheed Martin and the James Webb Space Telescope, where he helped produce the beryllium mirror substrates and structural components used in deep space exploration for NASA. Other firms served are the U.S. Navy, U.S Army, USAF, Boeing, Raytheon, Honda, MTD, Caterpillar, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Penn Entertainment, Inc., (formerly Penn National Gaming), and national research labs—bringing deep problem-solving experience to every level of the organization.
In addition to technical depth, James is a certified Dale Carnegie Instructor for over a decade focused on leadership and sales training, and a certified DISC Assessment Facilitator, helping leaders and teams understand how personality impacts communication, culture, hiring, and execution. He uses these tools to build stronger teams, reduce friction, and help leaders get more done with less effort.

His ability to understand people, technology, operations, marketing, and financial structure gives him a rare lens for identifying opportunities that deliver extraordinary ROI—often with short payback periods and minimal disruption.
